Our mechanic said that what we did in one day in Bolivia needed more shock-absorbance than a Discovery does in a whole lifetime in the UK.
DISCOVERY GOES THE DISTANCE
In 1989 the first Discovery left the production line. The millionth Discovery drove straight from Solihull to Beijing. Now Discovery takes you around the world.
CAPTURING YOUR ADVENTURES
A unique vehicle deserves a unique film. So we invited you to send us your Discovery moments that demonstrate its strength, versatility and sheer fun value.
MOVING IMAGES THAT MADE US SMILE
You proved that Discovery carried you safely through blizzards and deep water, up and down mountains, over sand dunes and into the world’s inaccessible places.
SEE WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN
We’ve created a showcase to celebrate just a small selection of the adventures you’ve shared with us. Follow Discovery's global journey and enjoy the ride.
25 YEARS OF DISCOVERY
Peter and Eileen Crichton have dedicated much of the last 25 years to exploring the world in Rabia, their Discovery 3.5V8i. They’ve circumnavigated the globe twice along the Northern and Southern hemisphere, and in 2012, travelled across the lines of latitude from the most northerly to most southerly points accessible by a 4x4.
Andrew Brown works for Land Rover Experience South Africa at the Arusha Serengeti Migration Camp in Tanzania: ‘Over the other side there were eight lions and a few buffalo foolishly wandered close to the pride. Realising their error, the buffaloes bolted, one straight into the swamp followed by six lions.’
G4 2006 competition director and recce leader Rikard Beckman explored the terrain in Bolivia: ‘As the track started to go up a mountainside, it didn’t do S-turns. It was obvious that was where they’d laid cable. In the end it was no problem for the Discovery, but it was scary how steep it went.’
'About three years ago I picked up a very early Discovery. Recently a friend and I took off on a massive trip across Australia (6000 Km) with the main intention of crossing the Simpson Desert. We have now returned and the car didn't miss a beat.'
MIKE MONTGOMERY, AUSTRALIA
SEARCH AND RESCUE
‘I joined the Texas Rovers club and learned what my Discovery is capable of from a former Land Rover Experience Instructor. I’ve become part of a non-profit expedition, participated in search and rescue due to floods and tornadoes, and made friends from all over the world I'd never have met without my Discovery.’ CHRIS DUKE, USA
FROM GERMANY TO INDONESIA
'My Discovery used to be a Federal Police vehicle in Germany with some extra equipment, but it is now my workhorse in Indonesia for weekdays and also my weekend warrior for getaways from camping to overlanding.' AHMAD RAVI, INDONESIA
TESTING THE CAPABILITY
'Wonderful holiday with my Discovery in Wales. I very much enjoyed what the car can do in such a special environment.'
CLEMENTINE BERGMANS, BELGIUM
GET THE FAMILY TO THE BEACH
'I took the family in our Discovery, which we call Diva, on holiday to Denmark's West Coast. The beach is free for cars for many kilometres. You drive on to it directly from the road. My son is setting out to surf.'
STEFAN MURAWSKI, GERMANY
LAND ROVER'S SPIRITUAL HOME
'My Discovery emerging from the darkness at the Land Rover Experience site at Eastnor.' STEPHEN HAYNES, UK
REST AND RELAXATION DISCOVERY STYLE
'I leave work behind and have fun with my Discovery.' EDUARD CARRILLO, SPAIN
INTO THE WOODS
'Discovery photographed in pine forests in the Altai Region, above the River Ob.'
OLEG SHUPIN, RUSSIA
DISCOVERY IS FOR LIFE
'My first car was a second-hand 1994 Discovery 200 Tdi. In 1998 I bought a new Discovery 300 TDi that I still drive with great satisfaction. Twenty years of Discovery! The family owns a Range Rover Sport. I am looking forward to the new Discovery, but one thing is certain, I will keep my 300 TDI for life.'
MATTEO FAROLDI, ITALY
